Fun family events for May and June in Central Okanagan Regional Parks

Celebrate BC Trails Day on June 1

Regional Parks have a fun way for residents to celebrate BC Trails Day on June 1.

Participants are encouraged to wear their favourite festive clothes and be entered for prizes for the most creative hats and outfits.

The day includes a walk along a portion of the Mission Creek Greenway featuring performers Kiki the Eco Elf and Trixie the Clown.

The walk is 6.5 kilometres from Lexington Drive to Durnin Road, and those who make the entire trek can grab the free shuttle back to their vehicles.

Festivities take place in Mission Creek Greenway Regional Park on Saturday, June 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Regional Parks events in May include:

  • Music Mornings in the Park, Mission Creek Regional Park on Thursday, May 9, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Kaloya Regional Park on Friday, May 17, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.;
  • Discover Your Parks Spring Series - Goats Peak Regional Park on Thursday, May 16, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday, May 30, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration required;
  • Go Fish! - Mission Creek Regional Park (Hall Road pond), Shannon Lake Regional Park on weekends, May 11 until June 16, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Explora Con Tu Familia Los Arboles, Mission Creek Regional Park (reuniserse en el EECO) Sabado 11 de mayo, 3:30 horas a 4:30 horas, Domingo 12 de mayo, 15:30 horas a 16:30 horas. Registration required;
  • Into the Dark Hike for Meadowlark Nature Festival, Johns Family Nature Conservancy Regional Park on Sunday, May 19, from 8 to 11 p.m. Cost is $25.
