Unionized City of West Kelowna workers get 16.5 % wage increase over 4 years

The deal followed three days of bargaining between the city and ALGEU

The City of West Kelowna and the Association of Local Government Employees Union (ALGEU) have reached a new four-year collective agreement.

The deal followed three days of bargaining from Apr. 10 to 12 and was ratified by the ALGEU on April 17 and city council on April 23.

“It provides 155 full-time and 40 relief and term positions with wage increases consistent with recent labour agreements elsewhere in B.C.,” a city media release states.

The increases for West Kelowna’s 195 ALGEU employees are:

  • 4.5 per cent starting Jan. 1, 2024
  • 5.0 per cent starting Jan. 1, 2025
  • 3.5 per cent starting Jan. 1, 2026
  • 3.5 per cent starting Jan. 1, 2027

Other changes to the collective agreement include minor housekeeping amendments.
